Our Honey Production Key Elements
Following from top row across left to right, and then down row by row.....here are the key elements to our Honey Production Process :
1) We use all wood construction in frames, assembling10 at a time. 2) Install 100% beeswax foundation only, with cell size for worker bee rearing used small cell at 4.9mm. Standard cell size is 5.4mm. Smaller bees appear less susceptable to mite infestation, and do not require chemicals in the hive. 3) Worker bee frame. 4) Drone bee frame. 5) Comparison of small cell worker bee foundation on the right (4.9mm) versus drone bee foundation (6.5mm). We install one drone frame per hive, as additional measure to control mite population. Mites prefer to lay their eggs in drone cells, as drones require an additional 3 days to mature. 6) We use all wood construction in boxes. 7) Nine (9) brood frames per box. 8) Bees obtained through swarm removals. 9) Bees obtained through box purchase. 10) Drone frame fill with brood is removed and placed in freezer for 2-3 days, killing bees and mites. This is an additional measure to keep our hives completely organic and free of all pesticides and chemicals. 11) Fully assembled hives. 12) Beekeepers attending to hives. 13) Happy bees at 10PM, after hot day of 104F temperature. 14) Pollen trap. 15) Harvested pollen. 16) THE HONEY !!!
